PAY-010-Easy Peasant Shirts/Chemise
This pattern lets you create the all-purpose
undergarmetn worn by both men and women during the Renaissance. This garment
was worn under bodices and doublets allike and differed principally in
length, women wearing them longer and men generally shorter so the bottom
could tuck into the breeches. The two length options included a just below
the hips, or just above the knee, but
you may lengthen or shorten to your own taste.
This pattern features three neckline options: drawstring
casing, cased elastic for a smooth neckline or a drawstring-created ruffled
neckline. The large sleeves are gathered into one of
two options: a smooth banded cuff or a
self-ruffle.
This garment is a relatively loose-fitting garment and
some people prefer their shirt looser than others. Choose the appropriate
cutting line by comparing your bust/chest measurements
to the size chart. If you like a lot of room in
your shirts, choose the next size up.
This is an easy pattern to make.
